Anderson Soil and Water Conservation District

Programs

Youth Education Programs

We have a variety of environmental educational programs for K-12. We have FREE educational lessons tailored to state standards, with most of our curriculum from Project WET, WILD, and Learning Tree. We also have annual contests, awards, scholarships, and sponsorships.

Adult Education Programs

We have a variety of adult education programs. Most of these relate to rainwater harvesting or seeds and/or gardening.

Seed Library

In partnership with the Anderson Main Library, we have a Spring and Fall Seed Library, where patrons can take up to five FREE seed packets per visit. We also have seed and/or garden-related educational programs at the Main Library.

Annual Barrels and Beer Event

Every year, we host Barrels and Beer. This is an opportunity to paint a rain barrel, drink some beer, and listen to environmental presentations. Our Barrels and Beer event funds our Environmental Steward Mini-Grant.

Environmental Steward Mini-Grant

Funded through our Barrels and Beer event, our Environmental Mini-Grant is an opportunity to recognize and fund efforts to conserve and protect natural resources in our area or to educate about them.

Annual Rain Barrel Sale

Each year, we have a rain barrel sale. People can pre-purchase a rain barrel kit, which includes a rain barrel and the necessary parts to set it up, and set up a time to come by our office to pick it up.

SC Adopt-A-Stream

As part of our focus on citizen science, the collection of scientific data by citizens, we promote SC Adopt-A-Stream. This is a program to monitor the water quality of streams in SC.
