Citizen Science

South Carolina Adopt-a-Stream (SC AAS) creates a network of watershed stewardship, engagement, and education through involvement. SC AAS volunteers can play an important role in monitoring and tracking water quality while sharing information about local water resources with their communities. In providing baseline information about stream conditions, volunteers, local communities, educators, and local government agencies can partner to protect and restore our waters.

SC AAS has created a Kit Loan Map, which contains many sites that would allow certified volunteers to borrow an AAS kit. Check it out to find an AAS kit near you.

Check Out An SC Adopt-A-Stream Monitoring Kit

Our office maintains two freshwater monitoring kits and one macroinvertebrate monitoring kit, which are typically checked out for one week at a time to ensure they remain available for others. While we can extend the checkout period if there is no immediate demand, we are unable to provide supplies for individuals to keep permanently.

Any certified SC Adopt-A-Stream volunteer can email us at annmarie.pauley@andersonswcd.org to schedule a time to check out our kits.
